1. application 지원(서)

직장을 알아보거나 어떤 일을 할 때 허가를 구하기 위해 공식적인 서류상의 의뢰를 하는 것으로 제출한다는 의미의 file, submit같은 동사와 자주 같이 쓰인다.

2. executive 중역, 임원, 간부

회사나 사업의 관리자로서 결정권을 가진 직급에 있는 사람을 일컫는다. 형용사로 쓰일 경우 ‘행정적인, 관리직의’의 의미도 있다.

3. representative 대표

both management and labor representatives

4. board ~ 회, 이사회

5. commitment 약속, 의무, 언급, 헌신(=devotion),

참여(=involvement) (‘회사’ => ‘업무’)

(제때 일을 마치겠다는 약속을 하다)

6. requirement 요구, 자격요건

meet a requirement (조건을 충족시키다)

‘~에 대한 자격요건’의 의미일 때 뒤에 전치사 for수반

a requirement for the position (그 직책의 자격요건)

7. promotion 홍보, 승진

promote는 기본적으로 ‘촉진하다’의 뜻을 갖고 있다. 상품의 판매를 촉진하는 의미에서 ‘홍보’또는 ‘판촉’의 뜻이 되고, 사람에게 쓰면 ‘진급’, ‘승진’의 의미

promotion for the brand name(브랜드명에 대한 홍보)

congratulate her for her recent promotion

8. transfer 전근시키다

be transfer to의 형태로 잘 쓰임

‘(교통수단을)갈아타다’, 혹은 ‘전화를 연결해주다’

be transferred to the branch office (지사로 전근되다)
