1. maintenance (건물, 기계등의) 관리, 보수

상태를 좋게 유지하기 위해 필요한 수리나 칠 등의 일

2. layover 기착, 경유 - stopover는 영국식표현

The flight has a layover in Wellington

(그 비행기는 웰링턴을 경유한다)

3. pharmacy 약국

pharmacy는 전문성 있는 약국을 의미하지만, drugstore는 보통 처방전이 필요없는 약과 음료수, 화장품 등을 함께 파는 상점 정도. 참고로 pharmacist는 ‘약사’, pharmaceutical company는 ‘제약회사’, pharmaceutical industry는 ‘제약산업’.

The prescription can be filled at any pharmacy, although prices will vary between locations.

(장소마다 가격은 다르겠지만, 어느 약국에서든 처방전 조제를 받을 수 있다)

4. adhesive 접착제

형용사로는 ‘접착성이 있는’, 명사로 ‘접착제’

5. stationery 필기구, 편지지

문구류, 사무용품, 편지지 등을 총칭해 stationery라고 하는데, company stationery는 회사로고 등이 찍혀 있는 것을 말한다.

All business letters should be written on company stationery.

(모든 상용서한은 회사 편지지로 작성해야 한다)
